The Province & City leaders fully affirmed the COVID-19 epidemic related products developed and produced by our company, paid tribute to our first-line technical staff for their adherence to hospital services, and encouraged us to increase productivity, speed up product shipments, and ensure the needs of medical institutions and citizens. Since its establishment, HEALTH Gene Tech has been focusing on investment and cultivation in the field of infectious pathogen detection. Our accumulated technological capabilities and platforms for many years have provided effective means for large-scale virus screening, improvement of screening efficiency, and scientific prevention during the COVID-19 epidemics. This time, nucleic acid detection services were provided for the isolation, home observers, and enterprise employees returning to work. The virus specificity, detection coverage, and detection sensitivity were further optimized to achieve rapid testing of SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Considering a large number of resumption enterprises scattered in counties and districts, the most difficult thing is to collect samples. One is to control the risk of infection during the sample collection process. The other is to ensure the quality of the collected samples for detection. HEALTH Group’s Ningbo Development Zone Central Hospital has undertaken this most difficult task. More than 50 medical staffs have formed more than a dozen sampling teams. They go to industrial enterprises and carry out professional on-site sampling. It takes 2 minutes to complete a standard sampling and information confirmation. They often run as many as a dozen or even twenty sampling points every day to sample thousands of people.

After collected at each sampling point, the samples are sent to the Ningbo HEALTH Medical Laboratory by special logistics vehicles for nucleic acid detection. To ensure 3000-5000 tests per day, laboratory technicians are often busy until 4-5 am, analyzing, reviewing, summarizing, and reporting the results.

In the process, we are also facing the shortage of frontline medical staff (on-site sampling), sampling consumables (sampling swabs), and prevention supplies (protective clothing). HEALTH will do its best to continue to provide full chain service of SARS-CoV-2 virus detection for resumption enterprises. fulfilling the enterprise missions of human health, and contribute to enterprise resumption of Ningbo.

As per its own annual tradition AACC presented the attendees with a variety of innovative scientific solutions for the clinical space, with an estimated number of 20’000 persons having attended.

World-wide epidemiological studies have shown that cervical cancer is the second most common malignant disease in women. High-risk oncogenic HPV (Human papillomavirus) types (including HPV 16 and HPV 18) are associated with 99.7% of all cervical cancers, indicating that the presence of HPV is an obligatory element in the development of cervical cancer. Persistent infection with high-risk HPV types may progress to precancerous lesions, which is the root cause of nearly all cases of cervical cancer. HGT’s SureX® HPV 25X Genotyping Kit can detect and genotype 25 HPV types simultaneously.

Health Gene Technologies partner company Biosan participates in NEXTlab, Poland

From 6th to 8th of June, Health Gene Technologies’s partner in the regions of Latvia and Poland, Biosan, has participated in the international scientific conference NEXTlab Next Generation of Forensic Biology Laboratory, which took place in Gdynia, Poland.

The conference was addressed to researchers working on the subject of forensic genetic analyses, DNA databases, law and related fields. The presentations were given by researchers from Polish and foreign scientific institutes, universities and forensic laboratories of the Police and they covered the following subjects:

  • Prediction analysis and determination of phenotype characteristics basing upon DNA analysis;
  • Forensic DNA analysis of plants, animals and microbes;
  • Automation of laboratory processes and mobile solutions dedicated to forensic biology;
  • Legal and ethical aspects of genetic examination;
  • Modern technology for detection and recovery of biological evidence;
  • Application of statistical methods in forensic DNA analysis;
  • Bloodstain Pattern Analysis;
  • Education and training for forensic experts.

The conference was an excellent opportunity to present the newest products, services and technologies to a wide range of forensic geneticists representing national and foreign forensic medicine institutes, medical universities and forensic laboratories.

HEALTH Gene Technologies presents new products at Bundelkhand University in Jhansi, India

HEALTH Gene Technologies took part in an international conference on Advances in Forensic DNA technology organized by Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology at Bundelkhand University in the city of Jhansi on February 22-24.

The conference was a push for connecting academics, students, the police and new technology developers to have a joint conversation about the present state and the future advances of forensic DNA technologies in the country. As cities in India are building a number of new forensic DNA laboratories in response to rising crime rates, there is a pressing need to share experience among laboratory experts.

The presentations in the conference were primarily focused on STR forensic analysis, many sharing case experiences of sexual assault, murder, kidnapping and paternity disputes.

HEALTH Gene Technologies took the opportunity to introduce a new kit of SureID® 23comp Human DNA Identification Kit for complex kinship and paternity cases.

Forensic State Laboratory in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh State, presented own experience of working with the kit in a speech titled “Use of Alternative STR Markers in Forensic DNA Typing”. The presentation focused on three complex paternity cases that would have been difficult to solve without complementary loci kits.

ISFG – the International Society of Forensic Genetics – has held its 27th Congress in Seoul, South Korea, from August 28 to September 2. The congress united scientists, industry innovators and public security actors to discuss new technologies and advances in forensic science. This year’s conference focused on seven main topics:

Scientific partner of Health Gene Technologies – the University of Technology Sydney and Beijing Institute of Genomics Chinese Academy of Science- presented a poster of our newest scientific collaboration with the SureID Compass kit that simultaneously detects 16 autosome STR loci and 17 Y-STR loci, and is suitable for building autosome STR and Y-STR databases.

Additionally, Health Gene Technologies launched our newest product development for complex kinship testing – 23Comp. This set of non-CODIS loci provides a CPI of 1-3.0483×10E-26.
